Diana’s New Beginning: From Silence to Self-Expression
Born in 2007 and orphaned by the age of four, Diana now lives with her elderly grandmother, who is in her early 80s and struggling to provide for her. Life has not been easy. Diana, who is both deaf and unable to speak, had never attended school and had little hope of receiving an education.
Yet through it all, Diana held onto a quiet but powerful dream: to become a seamstress.
In 2023, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, the Assuon Foundation Trust (AFT) was able to help turn that dream into a possibility. Diana was granted a full board placement at the Sekondi School for the Deaf, marking the very first time she had the opportunity to receive a formal education.
This life-changing opportunity has given Diana the tools to begin learning sign language, opening the door to communication, connection, and confidence. She is also receiving vocational training, taking her first steps toward a future where she can one day earn a living through her chosen craft.
And the most extraordinary part? This transformation cost AFT less than £495.
Thank You for Making This Possible, because of your continued support, a young girl who once had no voice now has a future full of possibility.
